LEARNING POD LAUNCHPAD

Unlike many other “online” education models, CPA is not new to online education, and we are constantly innovating.  One of our innovations is our Learning Pod Launchpad designed to help churches and communities around the world bring state-of-the-art learning to their local students and families!

WHAT IS A LEARNING POD?

Learning pods, sometimes calls micro-schools, are a group of students learning online in a shared learning space with adult supervision. This could be a tutor paid to supervise and assist the students or volunteering parents. Learning pods have been popping up all over the country in response to growing needs for social interaction due to school closures, as well as a desire to pursue a higher quality of education.

OUR PROGRAM

Learning pods

LEARNING PODS

  • Independent, self-governed communities of local students and families that contract with CPA to provide coursework and educational services.
  • Learning pods can choose to add their own local services, events, resources, extracurricular activities, etc., to complement the core academic program of CPA.
  • Structured, yet comfortable, learning environment in a church, school, community center or home where groups of students can safely meet.
  • Adult supervision, either paid or volunteer, to be present while students are learning with CPA online.

The concept of “learning pods” is not new to CPA; our school has been partnering with schools and churches since our founding in 2009 in this exact capacity.

Examples of communities that have benefited from CPA learning pods both currently and in the past are:

  • A small island community that had no access to Christian education before enrolling their children in CPA utilized their church campus for a meeting place for their students;
  • A K-8 Christian school that needed to add grades 9-12 for their small student body;
  • A small, rural community where a group of families met daily at their local church to educate their children using CPA as their core education for their students.

These are just a few examples of parents thinking “outside the box” to bring quality Christian education to their local communities.

Our heart here at CPA is for our school to “stand in the gap” with your local school community whenever there is a need we can fill. We love to partner with schools, churches and homeschool co-ops to provide quality online education to your students. If you or your church community have been looking for an alternative educational option for either part-time or full-time learning, consider Calvary Preparatory Academy’s Learning Pod Launchpad.

How can I create a successful learning pod for my community?

  • Contact CPA at (760) 410-8283 and speak to our Admissions Coordinator, Eleni Gillis, to obtain more information on our curriculum and ask about our group rate tuition discount for 5 or more students.
  • Contact a local church or community center about using their facilities for free or at little cost.
  • Involve parents as volunteers to keep onsite fees low.
  • Run background checks on all parents/volunteers. Ask a local church if they provide these services.
  • Avoid bell scheduling – use more flexible blocks of time for students.
  • Avoid having students sit at one desk all day; but rather create multiple learning environments where students can transition throughout the day, such as: a casual setting with couches, a formal environment with desks, outdoor environment, etc.
  • Be creative, innovative and flexible. CPA curriculum offers a great amount of flexibility for our students to work on subjects at their own pacing, but within set parameters. They still have deadlines, but can decide how to work towards those deadlines themselves.
  • Be responsive to the needs of the students and families attending.
  • Consider offering extracurricular activities such as community service opportunities, field trips, physical education, chapel, theater, arts, etc.
  • Be cautious about the variety of options you offer. Variety can be helpful to meet students’ personalized needs, but too many options can cause confusion and complications.

We are passionate about helping you bring high quality, Christian education to your local communities and we will do everything we can to assist you in your endeavor. Contact us directly today to take the leap on our Learning Pod Launchpad. We are here to help! (760) 410-8283
