Calvary Preparatory Academy: Our online high school program (Grades 9-12) is specifically designed for an online environment and is based on a blended model, incorporating elements of independent study with live, interactive teacher support. Students are able to access their Christian high school online course material 24 hours a day, 7 days per week from anywhere with an internet connection. This allows students to study from literally anywhere in the world.
All classes are based on strict standards and contain interactive animations, videos, audio components, study sheets, vocabulary, and other learning tools to enhance the learning process. Lessons also contain practice problems with hints and answers provided, followed by formal online quizzes. Online based quizzes are given to help assess a student’s knowledge of a given topic. This is one of the ways that online Christian high schools can determine if students are learning the necessary subject matter. Not only are students expected to complete online quizzes, but they also must submit other digital assignments to show that they have a keen sense of all subjects being covered via these online classes. Some of these materials include documents, Powerpoint presentations as well as oral tests completed by the online instructor.
Students meet virtually with their instructors to go over assigned tasks as well as to answer any questions that the students may have for their instructors. Teachers ask students to turn in their required assignments and then the assignments are discussed live with the teachers. This virtual meeting allows both the teacher and student to feel as if they are participating in a normal school environment. Teachers even grade assignments live with the students to show where improvement could be made in the future.
If parents are interested, they are more than welcome to participate in any of the virtual meetings with instructors. We strive for these sessions to help provide accountability for our online students. We also record all virtual sessions for administrative purposes.
