Use Your Education Savings Account at Calvary Prep Academy

Calvary Preparatory Academy is an approved ESA provider in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wyoming. More states will be added this year. If your family participates in an Education Savings Account (ESA) program, you may be able to use those funds to cover tuition at CPA — with no out-of-pocket cost. We’re proud to make a Christ-centered, WASC-accredited education accessible to more families through these programs.

ESA program details change from year to year. The information below reflects our understanding as of [date] — please confirm current eligibility, award amounts, and deadlines directly with the Alabama Department of Revenue before making enrollment decisions.

What Is an ESA?

An Education Savings Account (ESA) is a state-funded account that gives families the freedom to direct their child’s education dollars toward the school or program that best fits their needs — including accredited private and online schools like Calvary Prep Academy. ESA funds can typically be used for tuition, enrollment fees, and qualifying educational expenses. Each state program has its own eligibility requirements and account amounts.

Alabama — CHOOSE Act Education Savings Account (ESA)

Alabama’s CHOOSE Act provides eligible families with an Education Savings Account to use toward private school tuition and qualified educational expenses. Calvary Prep Academy is an approved participating school, and payments are processed through ClassWallet. Any Alabama K–12 resident in grades K5–12 whose household income does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty level may be eligible for 2026–27. Beginning with the 2027–28 school year, the income requirement is eliminated entirely — making every Alabama K–12 student eligible regardless of household income. Scholarship amount: $7,000 per student per year.

  • Program administered by: Alabama Department of Revenue (ALDOR)

  • Official program page: chooseact.alabama.gov

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my ESA funds to cover the enrollment fee?

ESA funds can typically be used for tuition and qualifying educational expenses. The enrollment fee ($175 for full-time, $50 for part-time) may or may not be covered depending on your state’s program guidelines. Contact your ESA program administrator to confirm.

What if my state isn’t listed here?

We are actively pursuing ESA provider approval in additional states. If your state isn’t listed, contact us — we may be in the process of getting approved, or we can help you explore other payment options including our scholarship programs.

Do I need to re-apply each school year?

ESA eligibility and renewal requirements vary by state. Check with your state’s program portal for renewal deadlines. CPA will work with you each year to provide the documentation needed for your ClassWallet payments.

Can I use ESA funds for part-time enrollment or a single course?

Yes — CPA offers both full-time and single-course enrollment. ESA fund usage for partial enrollment may depend on your state’s rules; contact your ESA administrator to confirm.

Who decides if I qualify and how much I receive?

Eligibility, award amounts, and priority status for the CHOOSE Act are determined entirely by the Alabama Department of Revenue — not by Calvary Prep Academy. Awards are issued by priority order (special-needs students first, then returning students, then military dependents, then remaining income-eligible families), so meeting the income requirement does not guarantee funding. We’re happy to help with the enrollment side, but questions about your specific eligibility, award amount, or application status should go directly to ADOR through the CHOOSE Act portal at chooseact.alabama.gov.

Please Note: ESA program rules, eligibility requirements, award amounts, and application deadlines are set and administered by the Alabama Department of Revenue, not by Calvary Preparatory Academy. Program details are subject to change at any time by the state. Before making any enrollment or financial decisions, please confirm current eligibility requirements, deadlines, and award details directly with the Alabama Department of Revenue at chooseact.alabama.gov. CPA is not able to confirm your eligibility or award status on the state’s behalf.
