Use Your Education Savings Account at Calvary Prep Academy
Calvary Preparatory Academy is an approved ESA provider in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Tennessee, West Virginia and Wyoming. More states will be added this year. If your family participates in an Education Savings Account (ESA) program, you may be able to use those funds to cover tuition at CPA — with no out-of-pocket cost. We’re proud to make a Christ-centered, WASC-accredited education accessible to more families through these programs.
ESA program details change from year to year. The information below reflects our understanding as of July 2026 — please confirm current eligibility, award amounts, and deadlines directly with the Tennessee Department of Education before making enrollment decisions.
What Is an ESA?
An Education Savings Account (ESA) is a state-funded account that gives families the freedom to direct their child’s education dollars toward the school or program that best fits their needs — including accredited private and online schools like Calvary Prep Academy. ESA funds can typically be used for tuition, enrollment fees, and qualifying educational expenses. Each state program has its own eligibility requirements and account amounts.
Tennessee — Education Savings Account (ESA)
Tennessee’s ESA is available to eligible families zoned to Memphis-Shelby County Schools, Metro Nashville Public Schools (Davidson County), or Hamilton County Schools. Calvary Prep Academy is an approved Category III school. Households must have annual income at or below 200% of the federal free-lunch eligibility guideline and meet residency and prior-enrollment requirements. Scholarship amount: approximately $10,148.88 per student for 2026–27. The program has an enrollment cap, and applications are awarded by priority order (siblings of current ESA recipients, students zoned to priority schools, and other qualifying categories) rather than strictly first-come, first-served — legislation affecting the cap was under consideration this year, so families should confirm current availability directly with the state.
Important: This is Tennessee’s ESA program, not the state’s Education Freedom Scholarship (EFS). Calvary Prep Academy does not yet participate in EFS.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my ESA funds to cover the enrollment fee?
ESA funds can typically be used for tuition and qualifying educational expenses. The enrollment fee ($175 for full-time, $50 for part-time) may or may not be covered depending on your state’s program guidelines. Contact your ESA program administrator to confirm.
What if my state isn’t Tennessee?
We are actively pursuing ESA provider approval in additional states. If your state isn’t listed, contact us — we may be in the process of getting approved, or we can help you explore other payment options including our scholarship programs.
Do I need to re-apply each school year?
Yes — Tennessee ESA requires an application each year, and application windows and priority deadlines can vary by year. Check tn.gov/education/esa for current dates. CPA will work with you each year to provide the documentation needed for your payments.
Can I use ESA funds for part-time enrollment or a single course?
Yes — CPA offers both full-time and single-course enrollment. Confirm with the Tennessee Department of Education whether ESA funds can be applied to partial enrollment.
Who decides if I qualify and how much I receive?
Eligibility, award amounts, priority placement, and enrollment cap status are determined entirely by the Tennessee Department of Education — not by Calvary Prep Academy. We’re happy to help with the enrollment side, but questions about your specific eligibility, application status, or award should go directly to the Tennessee Department of Education through the ESA portal at tn.gov/education/esa.
Please Note: ESA program rules, eligibility requirements, award amounts, enrollment caps, and application deadlines are set and administered by the Tennessee Department of Education, not by Calvary Preparatory Academy. Program details are subject to change at any time by the state, including through pending legislation. Before making any enrollment or financial decisions, please confirm current eligibility requirements, deadlines, and award details directly with the Tennessee Department of Education.
